Very awe inspiring and pleasing to look at!
It never ceases to amaze me how much one can do with so little. Something that beautiful; it weighs hardly anything, is drawn on a tiny bit of processed tree and is composed of much less than a thumblefull of raw chemically rendered coloring compound rubbed off with skill and care and passion. Such a marvel...
"The breed was intent to be Camaruge." Do I take that wording to mean the physiology for this subject is inconsistant with the Camaruge breed in some respect(s)? I would not notice... And dang whosoever it was who Commented on the length of the neck! The power of suggestion is terrible...
The scene is very acceptable. I do believe that is a castle in the background?
And the scenario and pose are very nice. Did it just come to you as a natural scenario to depict, or did you spot this in that list of poses I suggested in my Comments for "Full Figure III"?
This subject is a good example for me to perhaps make a few points clearer...
I consider black and white to both be neutral, and therefore would prefer more extensive bodypainting for subjects with such solid and rather "common" colorations. Fresian, Andalusian, Lipezzaner, "Camaruge" are more commonly all black or all white, I gather. And breeds we select which are commonly solid chestnut or other less attractive "solid" colors will also be subjects for a higher degree of bodypainting. I do have an important thought, though. Perhaps the color pencil sketches should have more simplistic bodypainting so that the watercolor versions do not look so much like "lazy" reproductions? (You may have thought of that aspect already, though.) And perhaps the poses and scenery should be varied from the color pencil versions to the watercolors?
As I like contrast, what with all the blue already in the scene, I would not have chosen blue as the color for the bodypaint. The effect is calming and muted and still very nice, though. Taking into consideration the drab yellows/greens of the vegetation, I think a nice mix of reddish browns, muted reds and dirty yellow might have looked nice on this particular subject...
And no border, I see. I was a bit disappointed to notice. But now that I think about it, I guess we had decided the borders are not neccessary for these sketches? I do not think I desire borders for the color pencil works in any case, just for the watercolors.
And as you keep saying you do not desire to produce anything I do not like/want, again I suggest that you conscentrate on the B&W preview/"model" sketches. The color pencil works will then be easier for you to produce based on my critiques of the B&Ws, and we will discuss very carefully what I/we desire for the water colors.
